Fiber cement plates produced in completely natural raw materials. It embodies cellulosic fiber, cement and mainly micronized granulated quartz. It is durable as well as extremely light. It is easy to carry and assemble.
Fiber cement plate is a man and environment-friendly material. There is no substance hazardous to man or environment in its structure. It does not have any gas emission in time or subject to atmospheric conditions.
Absolutely NOT. This has been the most popular question since the day fiber cement plates were started to be produced. In fact, fiber cement plates are developed due to prohibition of asbestos use and they are certainly environment-friendly. A particular, imported cellulose kind obtained from pine trees is used as a bonding element instead of asbestos.
Fiber cement plates is definitely incombustible (A1 class incombustible building material according to EN 13501-1) due to materials in its structure. Only microcracks were observed on plates during sudden cooling after being exposed to 500 degrees of temperature for 2 hours. Therefore, there is no risk of fire and its spreading in buildings produced with fiber cement plates, because fiber cement plates will not burn even if they will be in direct contact with flames in high temperature.
Important note: Insuring buildings against fire is very important today, as is known. Many insurance companies do not insure buildings in which combustible products, products which accelerate fire or which emit poisonous or health threatening gases in high temperatures are used or insure them against very high premium. For this reason, fiber cement plates are now preferred especially under roofing material instead of wooden plates.
Fiber cement plates are very long-lasting due to the materials in its structure. There is no stipulated life for both cement and quartz. The plates have a structure resistant to the toughest conditions as they are produced under high temperature and pressure.
Plates can be painted with acrylic or polyurethane exterior paints and plastic based interior paints applied in regular buildings, on condition these are water based paints, as the plates have cement and silica in their system. Grease based paints should not be used in fiber cement plates.
Affect of moisture originating from seawater is out of the question. Thus, they can be used confidently on the exteriors of the buildings in coastal and extremely sunny regions.
Fiber cement plates are flexible due to homogenously distributed cellulose fibers in its structure. It is pretty resistant to blows and impacts. They are not affected by objects swept by the wind.
Absolutely not. Fiber cement plates are naturally odorless. They do not produce any hazardous gases or substances which affects human health during fire. They can used securely in places involving fire hazards due to this specification. Vinyl based materials which are allegedly incombustible will at least melt and emit poisonous gases during fire. Unfortunately many people have died due to these materials which melt or emit poisonous gases, despite not being affected of fire.
Yes, they are resistant to all kinds of pests which can affect wood. It does not accommodate pests.
The water imbibition value (maximum 0,5 mm/m when imbibed in water for 24 hours) of fiber cement plates is very low. They are absolutely not affected from water and humidity and there is no structural deterioration observed in plates kept in 60 Co water for 60 days. For this reason, they can be used securely in humid environments and climates.
This is one of the most frequently asked questions. Unfortunately the life of the paint is related to the quality of paint and place of application more so than quality of fiber cement. There are many kinds of paints in the market ranging from very cheap to very expensive. Producing companies are giving 2-5 years of resistance and colorfastness to some paints developed to be applied on fiber cement plates. One other condition for the paint to remain intact for a long period of time is that there should not be any contact with moisture or water at the back side of the plates. There is a risk of blistering for the paint applied on the front surface in case plates are moistened or become wet on the back surface due to their water absorption features. For this reason water insulation is important in application with fiber cement plates. There will not be a problem with the paint for many years to come in the event mentioned precautions are taken in both fiber cement plate and paint applications.
The material does not require any special maintenance or repair. Maintenance or repair requirement usually changes directly proportional to the life of the paint used. Detailed information regarding this time should be received from the paint company. (There are paint companies in the market which give warranty up to 20 years).
